Over the last few weeks, as I prepared for the talk I gave at church last Sunday on being thankful, I’ve been captivated by two questions I came across in F. F. Bruce’s commentary on Colossians. The two questions were shared as it relates to learning, as Paul says in Colossians 3:17, that “whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Here are the two questions. I hope they captivate you as well.
1. Can I do this in the name of the Lord Jesus, whose reputation is at stake in the conduct of his known followers?
2. Can I thank God the Father through him for the opportunity of doing this thing?
